Новая модель Allen Elishewitz Kopis Flipper. Это первый Kopis в карбоне сделанный Алленом. Официальных характеристик пока не видел, поэтому сам все измерил и взвесил. Клинок 95мм, длина в сложенном виде 12мм, вес 165гр. Про сталь не скажу, но у нас есть знатоки, которые по рисунку на клинке ее определят быстро и осчастливят нас знанием.
Это мой первый нож Алена и он мне понравился. Очень впечатлил клинок, сложнейшая форма, РК на кончике имеет изгиб, сформирован как бы клюф хищной птицы. Сведен достаточно тонко и заточен отменно. Я ниже выложу, что Ален написал про эту модель. Люфты отсутствуют полностью. Рукоять можно сказать анатомической формы, очень плоская. Для меня немного коротковата, хотя в целом удобна. Обратите внимание на распорную деталь рукояти, она удлиняет рукоять. Для флипа нужно делать кистевое движение. Клипса удобная и не слишком жесткая. Качество изготовления ножа на очень высоком уровне, я по крайней мере не смог придраться ни к чему.

A wharncliff design is a love hate relationship; more people hate the design than love it. I honestly feel that the wharncliff is misunderstood and victim of a quick judgment for its appearance. Let's be honest there is nothing cool looking about the wharncliff; it is probably one of the most boring blade design. There is no real curve, angles; all it is is a straight blade and the top drops into the tip. But underneath its appearance there is a true workhorse.
For those who have never used one you are truly missing out. The flat edge allows the user to manipulate the knife with total control without the worry of slipping off the belly. It is ideal for a utility knife. That explains why so many woodworking and leather working tools have straight edges. Also a lot of Japanese kitchen knives have very straight or slightly curved edges. Straight edge blades are very popular all around Southeast Asia where they are using their knives to work with everyday.
Using a straight edge in a self defense knife makes more sense than the majority of the designs out there. Most of your slashing will come from the tip of the blade and with a straight edge it produces a wicked slash. The only problem for self defense with a straight edge is thrusting because the point is located so low that thrusting feels awkward. Don't get me wrong you can still stab with a straight edge but it is just not as efficient.
Blackhawk knives introduced a straight edge folder where the entire blade was shifted at an angle so the point was closer to the centerline. This solved the thrusting issue; you could still utilize 1/4 to 1/3 of the tip for slashing but the rest of the blade was useless because it was going away from the natural motion of the cut. Imagine trying to cut something but you had no blade. This is where the Kopis comes in; it addresses all the issues of a wharncliff and still retains its advantages.
