I'm looking for full machinist's plans for the Mosin Nagant.

I haven't been able to find it anywhere else, so I'm asking here as a last resort. I might also write to the Tula and Izhmash plants as well. Hell, I might see if I know anyone who lives in Tula or Izhevsk and ask them to just go there in person with a nice camera.

I figured that all of this stuff should be public domain by now anyway, right? I mean it was designed in 1891...

Yeah, I tried there. Even asked on their forums. Nothing.

I'm actually shocked. Everyone and their mother has machinist's plans for the AK and the PPSh. No one seems to have any love for the Mosin.

I'll start with fact that in Russia still exist a lot of fools.
None in Tula or Izhevsk not give any weapon's plans any man. Or they'll give but for much money. because they think that it important for foreign spy yet, in 21 age.

I would recommend to you send request to Remington factory, they did Mosin's rifle long time ago for Russian Empire.

I think that now for them plans ancient rifle not important, as for Russians.

Good point! Both Remington and Westinghouse were making them. I doubt that Westinghouse armory division still exists. However Rem might be worth giving a try!

I called Remington today. They said they don't give out any of the secret info related to government contracts. I told the guy this contract was 100 years old and that the government that paid them was gone, as was its successor. He didn't seem to be impressed. Friendly, but ultimately useless.

I'll call back tomorrow and see if I can get someone else on the line. Might have better luck. Might not. :P

Я вот владею не английским, а французским языком. И тем не менее не применяю его на Ганзе. На просторах Инета полно франкофонных форумов. Чем и пользуюсь.

Никто не против вопроса. Просто более обширное общение всё-таки следует вести по правилам форума. Инче отсекется значительная часть участников, которые хотят и могут вам посодействовать.
