The camera could be any camera, but was a D40 Nikon.
The strobe is a hand built 1microsecond flash built much like Edgerton did back in the early 1900s.
The triggering is by photo-transistor/laser pointer. The delay is the Make Magazine High Speed Photo unit.
Hard to believe, but the shot was the first and only try at splitting a pellet. I'm still worried that something will go wrong and I will SHOOT MY EYE OUT : )
And my own snark.... its damn good to find out that I was firing a silly old pellet rifle and not a big bad old gunpowder type rifle that shot a "real" bullet.
My neighbors are probably glad that I'm not firing a rifle in my garage.
Hand built flash, very fast, 1 microsecond. Ordinary camera flash is much slower, like 1millisecond.
The hardest part is the trigger. I'm using a laser diode and a phototransistor with the Make High Speed Controller for the trigger/delay.
